WERA Endorses Singapore Research Integrity Statement

On April 18, 2012, the Council of the World Education Research Association (WERA) adopted the following resolution supporting the principles of the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity:

The World Education Research Association is committed to and endorses the general principles of the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity, and continues to develop additional statements and gather information that would specifically respond to conduct of research in education. Approved.

The Singapore Statement is the product of the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity held in Singapore in July 2010. Developed through the efforts of researchers and others representing research institutions, research publishers, and funders from 51 countries, Conference summary notes that, “The principles and responsibilities set out in the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity represent the first international effort to encourage the development of unified policies, guidelines and codes of conduct, with the long-range goal of fostering greater integrity in research worldwide” (http://www.singaporestatement.org/).

The Singapore Statement has been translated into 15 languages. The next World Conference on Research Integrity will be held in Montreal, Canada, May 5-8, 2013.
