Didactics – Learning and Teaching IRN
IRN Start Date: February 1, 2014
This proposal arises from European Educational
Research Association (EERA) Network 27 that was established at the ECER 2006
conference in Geneva with the aim of advancing research on didactics - learning
and teaching in Europe. A major goal has been to strengthen the field, which has
been characterized by its fragmentation and by a diversity of systems and
approaches. In searching for common ground the network has sought to
re-invigorate the roots of the field by sharing historical perspectives,
theoretical frameworks, research methods and research questions in a spirit of
creative re-invention as it was founded in the 17th century by J. A. Comenius.
The network has established itself strongly in a relatively short period of
time in which it has attracted participants from worldwide. Therefore it is now
timely to establish it as a WERA-IRN and widen its focus to being fully
international.
