Because of the great success of the 2019 WERA Visiting Researcher Award in collaboration with the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), Diversity in Education Research (DiVER), at the University of Hamburg, this flagship capacity building opportunity has been continued. This year it has been expanded and in collaboration with 2 new partners, WERA now has 3 Visiting Researcher Awards. The two new collaborators for these opportunities are the American Educational Research Association (AERA), which will be hosted in Washington, D.C., the USA, and the DIPF | Leibniz-Institute for Research and Information in Education in Frankfurt/ Main, Germany.
The WERA Visiting Researcher Award Committee has recently selected our Visiting Researchers for 2020. Due to current travel restrictions, their visits will most likely take in 2021 to ensure their safety and to allow them to get the most out of the opportunity. This year, WERA received 38 applications from all over the globe. We would like to thank all who applied. The application pool proved resourceful, and the selection process difficult. We would like to congratulate our three WERA Visiting Researchers for 2020.

The Visiting Researcher for the WERA/AERA Award is Masaru Fujikawa.

The Visiting Researcher for the WERA/DIPF Award is Nani Teig.

The Visiting Researcher for the WERA/IEA Award is Alejandro PĂ©rez Pita.
