Symposium on Education Research in a Changing World Held in San Francisco

WERA and the AERA International Relations Committee held a symposium on “Education Research in a Changing World” at the 2013 AERA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California on April 30th. Representatives of WERA member associations presented key studies, methods, or data being undertaken or used in their country or region that reflect exemplary scholarship related to education and learning in a changing world. Yin Cheong Cheng President, Sari Lindblom-Ylänne, President elect, and Eva Baker, Past President of WERA addressed these broad trends in Asia, Europe, and the Americas to stimulate discussion. WERA Launches Four International Research Networks in 2013

IThe World Education Research Association announces the launch of four new International Research Networks (IRNs) [Press release] in February and March 2013 [Abstracts-2013], bringing to 11 the number of IRNS now supported by WERA. These networks are designed to advance education research worldwide on specific scholarly topics. Through IRNs, WERA engages individual scholars from around the world in synthesizing knowledge, producing white papers, and charting research directions and new research collaborations.

WERA Endorses Singapore Statement on Research Integrity

In April 2012, the Council of the World Education Research Association approved the principles of the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity and committed itself to further work on research ethics issues worldwide. The resolution and the rationale were set forth in a formal statement released by the WERA Secretariat.
