WERA Focal Meeting in Kuala Lumpur

The first WERA Focal meeting was recently held at the APERA 2010 Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The goal of a Focal Meeting is to focus on research issues through a world-wide perspective or those that are of world-wide significance to education research through a strand of symposia sessions, lectures, working group meetings, and roundtable sessions that are led, designed, and planned by WERA.

The WERA Focal Meeting featured three APERA-WERA keynote addresses by WERA President Eva Baker, WERA Vice President Jo-Anne Reid, and WERA Council member Sari Lindblom-Ylänne. In addition, four other symposia were also presented. The WERA Executive Committee and Council also met on November 21 and 22, respectively.

The WERA focal meeting was an integral part of the APERA 2010 Conference,  which was held at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur from November 23-25. APERA 2010 was co-sponsored by the three WERA member associations—the Malaysian Education Research Association (MERA), Education Research Association of Singapore (ERAS), and Hong Kong Education Research Association (HKERA). The broad conference theme was The Ecology of Human Growth and Sustainable Societal Development: Contributions from Educational Research and Innovations.
