WERA Annual Volume (Formerly WERA Yearbook)
Share |

In 2015, co-Editors, Lori Diane Hill and Felice J. Levine introduced the inaugural volume of the World Education Research Yearbook series. The WERA Yearbook presents a collection of the strongest research papers considered and disseminated by the World Education Research Association (WERA). As an association of national, regional and international education research associations, WERA was established to go beyond what any individual association could achieve in its own country, region or area of specialization.  The collective ambition of the Association is to undertake initiatives that are global in nature and to catalyze, stimulate and lead in ways that promote the use and application of rigorous education research and build capacity and interest in the field around the world.  This aim and ambition were central motivators for WERA’s new annual. New Structure for WERA’s Annual Edited Volume

In consultation with the senior publisher at Routledge who oversees publication of the WERA series, the WERA Yearbook are transitioning to a modified structure, publication schedule, and title for WERA’s annual volume.

The restructured annual volume series will:

  • feature an editors' introduction that speaks more explicitly to the links within and across thematic areas in each volume

  • be rebranded (including a new title) to highlight, among other things, that the series showcases a collection of outstanding research by emerging and established scholars whose work reflects a broad and exciting range of international perspectives on education research;

  • move away from an emphasis on a link between the volume chapters and a particular WERA Focal Meeting, and instead present them as the best of WERA – which includes but is not limited Focal Meeting papers;

  • be published in the fourth quarter of each year beginning in 2017;

  • take on a new title (Current Proposal: International Perspectives on Education Research, Vol #).

To facilitate the transition to WERA’s restructured annual volume, chapters that would have been published in the 2016 and 2017 WERA Yearbooks, will be combined into the first volume of the rebranded series. The deadline to submit the 2017 volume to our publisher is in early June. This volume (which will include a maximum of 21 chapters) is scheduled to be released in late November or early December 2017.
