WERA MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS

WERA is an association of major national, regional, and international specialty research associations dedicated to advancing education research through an international lens. WERA undertakes initiatives that are global in nature and thus transcend what any one association can accomplish in its own country, region, or area of specialization. Each member association in good standing shall appoint one representative to the Council and have one vote in Council deliberations and elections. Benefits of WERA association membership include:

Research with a world-wide perspective
• Promoting the use and application of education research around the world
• Advancing education research world-wide on specific scholarly topics through the WERA International Research Networks (IRN)
• Advancing education research policies and practices world wide

International recognition
• Recognition status of WERA Affiliation as association member
• Conducting outreach, around the world, to education research associations and groups of scholars around the world

Network on an international basis
• Professional development and worldwide scholarly networking
• Members receive all the particulars (e.g. dates, call for papers, registration information, program etc.) in connection with the annual WERA Focal Meeting
• Receive information and invitations to educational research events, capacity development (workshops), projects etc. in cooperation with WERA worldwide
• Disseminate relevant news, calls for papers, publications, training courses etc. via WERA communication channels and social media platforms
• Opportunity to propose and lead a WERA International Research Network (IRN) or join an existing IRN. This affords you increased potential to network with colleagues of similar research interests and collaborative opportunities for mutual projects.
• Automatic membership and active participation in the Doctoral and Early Career (DEC) network
• Meeting space during the Focal Meeting for the Doctoral and Early Career Network (DEC) and International Research Network (IRN) Chairs etc.

Seminars and workshops
• Submit proposals for organised WERA symposia and keynote presentations at conferences of member associations globally
• Present your research or participate in a panel or special sessions at a WERA Focal Meeting world-wide
• Building the capacity of education researchers and advancing the field of education research on an international scale

Opportunities for early career scholars
• Providing WERA doctoral and early research scholars with opportunities to network, meet and build relationships with expert education researchers in terms of the Doctoral and Early Career Network (DEC)

Website and social media platforms
• Access to the WERA website with information about upcoming events, various resources, information about WERA, link to other associations.
• Members-only section of the WERA website geared toward professional social networking and scholarly exchange with members
• Participation in the WERA Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter communities

Publications
• Discounts on WERA publications, including the WERA Volume Series
• Become a reviewer of WERA’s Volume
• Free copy of the quarterly newsletter

 

Associations seeking membership to WERA must provide the following:

  • A formal resolution seeking membership in WERA by the governing body of an association
  • A brief statement of the reasons for seeking membership in WERA
  • A statement of the commitment to the mission and purposes of the WERA
  • A copy of the association constitution or bylaws, especially indicating that the association is a non-profit research association
  • A statement of commitment to payment of dues
  • A statement of how representatives to WERA Council would be appointed and for what length of service officers would serve.

Member associations include education research associations from countries around the world, including: Brazil, Cyprus, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United States. The European Educational Research Association is also a prominent member further reaching to scholars across all EERA countries.
